You've already seen two to three months of freezing temperatures and flying snow, and it's only the beginning of January! At Bozeman Paragliding, we think that when the going gets tough, the tough head down to warm, sunny, thermally Mexico for the month of January.
Bozeman Paragliding is offering a guide service from the Mexico City airport, to the Valle de Bravo flying sites, and back to the airport. Trips are typically one week long. Your guide, Andy Macrae, is fluent in Spanish and has studied the flying area every January since 1999. He will give advice on where to and where not to fly, what the best XC routes are, launching techniques, air to air radio guidance, and more. This service also includes getting you to and from the airport, arranging a place for you to stay, and finding things to do around town when you're not flying.

About Valle

Valle de Bravo is a small resort town located about two hours west of Mexico City. There is a lake, night clubs, internet cafes, great restaurants, etc. However, the beauty of Valle is that it's a resort town for Mexicans from Mexico City, rather than for white tourists, so you still get to experience all of the flavor of a real Mexican town - cobblestone streets, burros, mangy dogs, and powerlines everywhere. Hotels range from $8 per night to $75 per night and food is about half as expensive as it is in the U.S.

The Flying

Valle has two main flyng sites - El Peñon and La Torre. One has smooth onshore (from the lake) ridge lift, and the other is famous for bumpy mid-day thermalling and XC. An experienced pilot can count on at least 2 hours of airtime every day. The weather there is that consistant. Pilots will be able to experience great thermal flying under radio guidance and supervision.

This trip is being offered for $500 dollars per person per week. Similar guided tours to this area range from $1500 to $3000. The reason our trip is so much more economic is that we feel there is a need for less expensive tours for those of us on a budget. We are able to make it so much cheaper because unlike the other tours, we don't offer breakfast, vehicles, or rooms to sleep in. We know all of the hotels and restaurants - from ritzy to not-so-fancy, so we can point you in the right direction according to your needs. Rides to and from both launches can be purchased at the local flying shop, in one of their trucks that run to each launch every day. It's what we've been doing for 7 years, and it works perfectly.
