While learning to fly with Bozeman Paragliding, you will have access to the best equipment on the market. Although it is not necessary to purchase your own equipment before you start learning, it is recommended that your equipment is purchased before the end of your lessons. This will insure that you will get to know your own equipment before you obtain your P2 license. Each glider flies and reacts in its own way, so getting to know the characteristics of your own gear while still under our supervision is the safest way to learn.

If you’re undecided about whether or not to get new gear, remember that you typically won’t save any money when buying used equipment. You’ll just have an older glider with an unknown history and shorter useful life that you’ll have to replace sooner. When buying paragliding equipment, it is much safer to find ways to get that initial investment money together than to find ways to spend less initially. After the initial investment, you’ll have an entire setup that will last for years to come. It is often possible to get 4 years out of your glider when buying new, and unlimited years out of the harness and reserve parachute.

With that in mind, we’ll give you approximations on the prices of equipment. Intro gliders (DHV-1 and DHV 1-2) typically cost about $3,500. Harnesses range from $700 to $1,200, and reserve parachutes are about $600.
